Next step will be a fun one... routing all the components. this is also the stage where i definitely will see if i get some issues and need to place something differently.

@AurilFPV I will be ordering the pcbs from jlcpcb. So I only need to solder the components later on. In both cases I m using a 6 layer design which I wouldn't be able to do myself. I could also tell them to populate the board with the components but I would like to do that myself.

I most likely will try to utilize a stencil to apply solder paste and then use a hotplate/heat gun after placing the components to solder everything on it.

Nah, not interested in AIO's (at least not right now 😂)
while my FC could connect to a standard 4in1 ESC with a modified cable harness its nicer to have an 4in1 ESC which already has the same connector. The main issue right now is placing all components on a "tiny" pcb and later on finding a way to connect/route them properly. the real test comes when I m building it IRL. Because if it works then it will most likely be noisy as f... 
soldering will definitely be a fun challange for both boards..

@AlmondKing it's a script on your elrs radio transmitter which uses the RF signal to show you in which direction your drone is located. It shows your a status bar which increases if the signal becomes stronger but also an audio signal which becomes faster the closer you get to your drone. Just search for "else finder Lua script" on YouTube. If it's not on your radio already then you can easily install it.

Damn, I hope you find it! For the future use the elrs finder script as already mentioned. It helped me quite a few times after I crashed to find it fast. As long as the lipo is connected it will show you where it is...

I m still unsure if it will even work but I m hopeful 🤣 .. I did come across some YouTube videos where the guy tries to explain how he build his. From there I just tried to find more sources. There are a few open source flight controllers and escs. I checked them out and started to build mine from scratch in KiCad. Betaflight also offers a few useful links.. btw chatgpt was a great help finding additional help if I needed something.


Btw i only have basic understanding of electronic..

My FC project is slowly taking shape. Most things are done. I got rid of a few UARTS as I m not really using them. Which also made routing a lot easier.


Soon I will be able to order all parts

Set both to onboard ADC this would be the normal setting for any skystars FC stack. I do use multiple ones from them and all are set the same way without issues

What setting (number) do you have in betaflight on the amperage meter? If it is set to 290 with 0 Offset then this would be correct. Make sure to set the meter source to onboard ADC if set to ESC sensor.

I dont think I m going to sell stuff like my frame or this fc (+ upcoming esc)... maybe I m starting to share  the files at some point. So anyone interested can build it themselves

Current status: schematics done, placement done,..

Next step is to draw all traces (connections) between the elements..

This ended up beeing a very interesting project!

Yeah even if I fail I will learn something! Right now I m trying to space out and place every part properly in KiCad. It will definitely take some time before I can even order the first prototype boards.

I do not have clue either. I m slowly wrapping my head around it. I actually just wanted to learn more about how a flight controller and also a 4in1 esc works. But after some time I got more and more interested in trying to build one. Lets see if I can even make it work or if it will be a electronically noisy paperweight when done. 🤣
