@YorkieCanadian The versatility is what keeps me coming back. If I wanted to fly larger quads and felt more confident in my ability to not crash $400-600 worth of parts then I would probably lean towards the DJI first route. With the Box Pros I can try to stick with cheaper drones and not feel like I am wasting money.

As well the Avatar VRX is roughly similar money to the goggles N3 so after a bit I will have to decide if adding the VRX makes sense or getting DJI goggles would be more suitable. By then I will have a bit more experience and would already have another set of goggles so I am not hamstrung by "only" the DJI ecosystem. I am semi rooting for the Artlynk ecosystem to get us decent HD for reasonable cost so the casual flyers, like me, have another lower cost option.

Thank you for your insight! I would love some more peoples thoughts but glad someone responded at all!

Just saw the Livestream you mentioned. Bardwell seemed to say what I was thinking in regards to the Box Pro versatility at its price. Are you sticking with DJI based on the sunk cost of the equipment you have? Is Walksnail VRX now close enough for you to recommend adding on to the Box Pro goggles even if the overall cost would potentially be smaller by going DJI?

Hello All! Looking forward to seeing this community grow!

I am US based and looking to start in the hobby. I have basically found 2 different avenues I am interested in. I am mostly interested in smaller quads and would eventually like to be good enough for some freestyling, but I know that in the beginning I will be happy with sim time and some light backyard exploring.

Option 1 would be DJI N3 goggles. Obviously DJI is having their issues with selling in the US so I am worried I will dump money into a ecosystem only for it to be unsupported within the next 2 years. Plus side is that their goggles are still decently available and seem to be a good value. Image quality is the biggest draw for the type of flying I am interested in as well.

Option 2 would be HDZero Box Pro goggles. I found a pair here in the US being sold at the original $299 price so it would be a bit of a deal for sure! Part of the reason I am asking is if I should jump on the deal while I can or let it go to do some more research? The BoxPro's would be a more expensive equipment than the DJI goggles (oddly enough) but would be quite a bit more future proof with their analog, HDZero and VRX (via HDMI). The upside is that I would have access to cheaper quads and more future options. Downside being there is nothing currently quite like the DJI system and to get close with Walksnail I would be paying quite a bit more in the end.

Thoughts?

Let's take flight together and elevate the world of FPV drones to new heights.
