I've loved everything remote control since as far back as I can remember. Growing up I bought as many RC cars and planes as my $3 a week allowance could save up for. My first drone was a Skyviper Nano m200 or something like that. Super fun lil guy. Newer versions were not nearly as good. My first FPV drone was an Eachine Racer 250. It got the job done for the most part, but left a lot to be desired. My first quality FPV drone was an analog Bardwell edition QAV V2 before the aluminum parts. Overall fine, but the Xilo components certainly fit under the budget moniker. Now I'm on a 3.5" Grinderino I built up myself.

Here's my version using a real old 2s whoop stack
I don't have DVR capability unfortunately
I'm in the middle of designing a version with some tweaks using what I've learned with this one's performance

Spent the last couple of months refining and tinkering on this with my friend

I find it easiest to lean with my head back to make turning my head difficult enough to act as a reminder to sit still. Practicing in the SIM helped a lot

I've been on the same journey with the grinderino. The motor spec sheets I've looked up show a rather large efficiency and power increase with just that extra half inch

No personal experience, but from the stats and pics looks like it should be a nice lil ripper

Set of 4 Diatone Mamba TOKA 2203.5 3300Kv

New Unused Unaltered

Got these for a Grinderino, was super hyped and happy with em. (see my premature review 😅)

Went to install them aaand the motor spacing didn't work for the arms.

I'd forgotten to check, and these had the 16X16 mm, not the 12x12mm I needed.

Not trying to make any money off of the tariff stuff.

Just trying to get my money back and asking for the same as what I paid.

Probably a configuration issue. Maybe a couple of em.

First part could be needing to change min throttle/idle throttle

Second and related part could be needing to ensure you have the right info for you're motors in Betaflight. Maybe the number of poles/magnets is wrong?

Last thing I could think of is ESCs needing updated but I doubt it would be that.

You can limit the throttle and lower the rates making it less responsive
I would recommend ramping it back up slowly once you get comfortable to have better controllability

Everyone here is saying the camera is broken, no the connector for the camera is broken. Probably in your board. Try to direct solder it. The vtx is fine given you see the betaflight logo and not an image of static. Also verify the camera is getting power and whatnot.

Still happily using analog and testing out HDZero after a friend kitted me out for Christmas with the monitor and an eco vtx.
DJI seems like it's going away in the US soon so I s'pose I'm glad I never had enough $ to buy in.
Would be awesome to have one of those lil rippers but I assume shipping to the states is pretty out of the question 😅

@Crofton77 browsing around different motors at that size with listed test sheets, you are underpropping significantly. So you should be able to use however aggressive props that you like. The GF 2540-3 are the most "aggressive" propellers you have listed.

My understanding is the OSD won't work but you should be able to power the VTX etc. You may have to connect tx to rx to have it actually output video but I'd look up some YouTube videos to check on that.

Simple size and shape says GF 2540-3. But that doesn't take into account if your motors will work with this size or the differing weights of prop materials. 14xx motors tend to go with slightly bigger 3-3.5" props.

HDZero costs the same for the free style with a camera.
If you have it, saving money would not be the reason to change.
The only relevant reasons for switching at this point would be if you're worried about DJI products being taken away by regulations, if want lower latency, or if you just dislike DJI as a company.

Edit: One other good reason for switching would be for flying in large groups where the bandwidth greediness of DJI is restrictive

Could the "Backpack" have a way to group components into different drones/setups?

That way folks can look in your backpack to see what you're running clearly. (Could have optional public visibility)

Upvoted comment on a troubleshoot question What size bolts are used for a 3.5 inch prop?

M2x7mm bolts https://www.racedayquads.com/products/m2-x-7mm-steel-bolt-10pack-for-t-mount-props

The motors should come with some, but they are easy to loose, so spares are always good to have

February 9, 2025 at 12:43 AM

Yep so definitely 18650s only

Upvoted reply on a troubleshoot question What nuts am I supposed to use?

I read the question again and now I understand. I've never really heard of anyone having this problem before so that indicates bad nuts to me.

The first ones look fine, but I would just order some new ones. They're pretty cheap

Let's take flight together and elevate the world of FPV drones to new heights.
