Hello there, I'm DroneKoorts, also known online as LeadPoisoned07 or XGamerGX13. I've been obsessed with RC aircraft since 2019. I had a small hiatus of three years but since the summer of 2025 I'm back into FPV, specifically micro drone racing. My other hobbies include making music (I play guitar and the main genre I play is progressive metal), drawing, programming (including Arduino and Pi) and I have a YouTube channel where I post videos inconsistenly. Glad to meet you!

I think we can assume that it takes just as long to charge all the smaller batteries as the one big battery. If parallel charging was alowed it would be cheating for option A 😆

What determines if a shop's stock is on the site? Droneshop.nl is one of the listed shops however what they have in stock is not added to the site.

Interesting project! I've flown some old brushed whoops. What I can say is that they wear out a lot faster than brushless motors, expect to replace them every 5 hours of usage. Also make shure you get the right size props since the 615 brushed motors often use 0.8mm shafts which will only fit with 0.8mm props (1mm will be too loose).

A little outdated but they are alright. About the same feature set as the BetaFPV VR04.

Haha wow! I haven't seen a Y-frame since 2017. Cool project!

I don't really think there's a right or wrong placement for the reciever module, as long as it doesn't short out anything. You also wouldn't need it at an accessible place because it's mostly a "set it and forget it" component.

What I've seen many people do is mount the antennas parallel to the motor arms (so you could put them on the two front for example). However since you've bought (in my opinion a way overkill) dual band reciever with diversity, you would like to have both antennas in a perpendicular orientation to maximise the efficiency of the diversity module (for example one lying flat and one pointing up).

Here's how I would mount them, shown in a crappy paint drawing:

A monitor is indeed the way to go if you want to keep using FPV feed without goggles. HDZero has their own monitor, and the DJI goggles have a mini hdmi video out that can be hooked up to an external monitor with. For walksnail it's a special case though. There's one specific monitor which is perfect for the walksnail system, since it's compatible with the 100fps format. JB has a video covering it:

PS: If you're actually referring to Line of Sight flying, I can tell you more about that!

@Fuocothedog I would like to correct myself. These goggles aren't the greatest option out there, but they are certainly workable. The goggles require some modifications which will probably land you above 100 euros eventually:

- A module bay and VRX module can be added to improve the bad built in video reciever (without modding the goggles itself)
- A DVR module can be added for DVR (although these are becoming harder to find)
The top two mods can be done simultaneously though it will require some soldering work and might introduce latency.

- I've seen multiple ways people modded the goggles to improve FOV, this does require some work and not just plugging modules in.  I've also heard that standing in a dark room and holding your phone's screen at 30cm from your face is a good representation of the regular FOV in the goggles.

There's extensive documentation on youtube to do these mods. So I would only buy these goggles if you feel crafty and ready to spend some more to improve quality of life. By the way, to get your goggles to work with your computer, you will need a digital to AV adapter, which will also set you back some money and might introduce latency which might make it less flyable or not flyable at all.

So my judgement went from "Definitely not" to "Probably not". My recommendation remains the BetaFPV VR04. Make of that what you will.

PS: there might be a way to hack in a 3.5mm AV input into the BetaFPV VR04, however this is not documented so it will require some work, knowledge of electronics and soldering skills OR you could transmit the HDMI signal and pick it up with your goggles without having to do any modification to the goggles, which does have documentation.

@Forol1561  First of all, I don't think putting your camera angle at any degree is considered cheating. Secondly, in real life settings I don't see many people go above 50° or even 45°. And lastly, I've also adjusted my camera angle to extreme limits in the sim before to get the best times 😜

@Forol1561  Yeah, overall parts get cheaper the smaller you go. I don't even have the money for a quad, hence my many hours in sims (in FREE sims even, yet to buy a proper paid sim). Not trying to flex my poverty here by the way 😅 I'm seriously considering starting off with LOS quads so I can avoid the costs of goggles and vtxes. I don't really mind that idea.

@Forol1561  Wow you must've crashed a lot in the beginning, even with more chill flying, I can't imagine the costs...

It shows that real stick time is very valuable! I have about 100 hours across all the sims I played and I think it would take me a hot minute to beat your lap times.

Wow this is really good for 1.5 hours! Did you have any practice prior to Liftoff: Micro Drones?

Wow, a real blast from the past! A friend of mine has a bunch of drones laying around from 2016 - 2019 (his parents stopped with the hobby when the new regulations came). He also has a teleporter, with a module bay modificitation though. He also has a Spektrum DX6i and some quads from the same era, some of which have F3 processors (which betaflight abbandoned right after they stopped flying). I might make a post about it some day.

No, these are not worth your money. The FOV on the screens is very narrow and do not look very good. Also: no DVR without a mod, which also is a downside. If you want an educated opinion, Joshua Bardwell did a review on them a while back:

I think the title already says enough 😉

@Fuocothedog well ultimately it comes down to you, but those are my recommendations yes.
- Air75 II freestyle / racing: best performance and weight
- Meteor75 Pro: best durability
- LAVA II: Best lipo batteries
I still recommend the Meteor75 Pro above the Air75 II because of it's durability, however if you end up going with the Air75 II I would highly recommend you get a few extra spare canopies because you will most likely break them quite often.

By the way, I didn't know you were the founder of SpeedyPizzaDrones! I just saw it on your profile. I think people will be excited for a product like this (Build your own prop...)

I'm interested in your long posts mate! I don't speak Italian, but google translate comes to the resque! Looks like you've been putting solid work into this project, hopefully you can get some recognition so people can test it out and catch the attention of manufacturers who then can specify their metrics. I think researching materials could be a next step in this project, because that also has an influence on not only weight and durability but also flight characteristics. Keep up the good work!

@Fuocothedog  Glad it helped! Yes, the meteor series has the same connector as the newer LAVA and LAVA II batteries, so they are compatible.

@LordPickle  they are great goggles, but way over OP's budget at 300 - 400 euros...

@KJwolf606  Yeah... now that I think about it you're right. Micro drones used to fly a lot differently to bigger quads, they still do a bit but I have to admit they've gotten way better. @Fuocothedog  I think you're good with starting with a whoop.

Let's take flight together and elevate the world of FPV drones to new heights.
